Alicia Machado was born Yoseph Alicia Machado in Maracay Venezuela on the 6th of December, 1976. Alicia comes from a wide heritage with her father being Spanish and her mother is of Cuban descent. She has been a well-known figure in television shows and beauty pageants. The rise of Alicia Machado to stardom began when she was awarded Miss Venezuela in 1995 at 19 years old, as a representative of the State of Yaracuy. Her crowning achievement came one year later, when she was awarded the Miss Universe 1996 title, the fourth Venezuelan who has won the coveted title. Her time as Miss Universe however was marked by negative coverage in the media and controversy because of the fact that she put on weight. Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, ridiculed the Miss Universe in front of her about her weight gain, calling the girl Miss Piggy and even directing her to exercise in front the media.
